Programs

Construction: ICB is working with a number of partners to ensure that Brooklyn’s small and mid-sized contractors, which employ 40,000 Brooklynites, remain healthy and competitive.

ICB is creating a curriculum which includes GreenAdvantage© in conjunction with the US Green Building Council and CUNY, tax workshops with the IRS, as well as safety, legal and technical assistance coming soon.

Please feel free to access more information on events and publications regarding our construction programs.

Health Care: ICB is creating a Brooklyn Allied Health Coalition to address the shortage of allied health professionals (technicians, technologists, therapists, etc.) in our borough’s medical institutions. These are well-paying jobs which necessarily local, offer opportunity for advancement and often do not require lengthy, expensive degrees. ICB has assembled a committee of allied health academics, which will be supplemented further by major employers and government regulators.

Self-Employed Brooklyn: Self-Employed workers make up one of the most diverse and important sections of our economy. In an effort to better understand this community, ICB has conducted original research into the self-employed population and begun a partnership with the Center for an Urban Future to investigate the group further through a seminar series. The first in this series, Harnessing Brooklyn’s Creative Capital, was held at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Dweck Center and was a great success.
