In 1994, the Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) embarked on what was to become one of its most popular program offerings: The Entrepreneurial Assistance Center (EAP). Dedicated to providing support to aspiring business owners and businesses seeking to grow, EAP’s model includes a 60-hour classroom training component, along with one-to-one technical assistance to discuss and address individual business needs. To date, over 1,000 entrepreneurs have participated in EAP, and “success stories” run the gamut from home-based businesses to multiple location hospitality services.

Do you want to learn to start and operate a business the right way? Do you need assistance in taking your business to the next level? If so, the $240 cost for participating in EAP is an investment in your future.

Program topics will include:

  • Developing a business plan that works
  • Creating a viable marketing plan
  • Understanding legal structures you can use for a business
  • Mastering the basics of accounting and bookkeeping
  • Preparing financial statements, including cash flow analysis;
  • Certifying your business for government contracts
  • Understanding the commercial real estate market
  • Effectively using technology in your business
  • Getting your business financing

At BEDC’s EAP Center, our goals are practical – we want you to leave with the tools to start a successful business. Whether you do that tomorrow, or when you feel ready, we are here to offer you the support you need.
