The consultant, Linda Hurwitz, will lead monthly group meetings to discuss best practices and also meet with each group individually to deal with their specific issues. Strategic Board Development BEDC FREE. A two-hour workshop run by the Volunteer Consulting Group focusing on how to develop and improve your Board of Directors. The meeting is meant for Executive Directors and their Board Chairs. Business Ventures for Nonprofit Organizations BEDC FREE. Run by the Lawyers Alliance of New York, this free workshop will provide an overview of the different legal structures available to nonprofits that are looking to participate in business ventures and commercial activities. Quarterly CEDC Meeting BEDC FREE. Come hear a variety of speakers address issues of interest to the Brooklyn nonprofit community. Tentative topics include developments at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the Gowanus Canal, the Initiative for a Competitive Brooklyn, and bringing blood drives to your community. The Essentials of Nonprofit Fundraising BEDC FREE. Attend this exciting workshop to hear grant-makers, corporate executives and successful nonprofits present their perspective on how to raise funds for your nonprofit organization. Participants will include representatives from the Independence Foundation, Housing Works, and JP Morgan Chase. Website Development and Technology Applications for Nonprofits BEDC FREE. Come hear two technology consultants for nonprofits, Neil Levin and Stephen Musgrave, teach you everything you need to know about starting or improving your organization’s website. This workshop will involve a step-by-step guide to setting up a website, finding a designer, and choosing the right products, services, and applications to suit your organization’s needs.
