NEW AT BEDC

BEDC receives 2010 Award for Excellence from New York State for EAP Program.
On Thursday August 12th, 2010, BEDC received the 2010 Award for Excellence for “Outstanding Program Performance and Achievement and Dedication to the Entrepreneurs of New York State.” Mercedes Gomez, Director of Business Services and Nina Sampayo, Program Assistant accepted the award of BEDC’s behalf. BEDC was one of three organizations state wide to receive this award. There are 24 New York State EAP Centers, funded by the Minority and Women’s Business Division of Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC). BEDC Thanks the New York State Legislature for their continued support of this valuable program. We also thank the staff and instructors who help make this program a success.

The “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” workshop will provide a 2-hour overview of the risks and benefits of self-employment. Participants will be introduced to the attributes of being a successful entrepreneur, understand the magnitude and responsibilities of “being your own boss”, and review some general guidelines to consider before seriously considering self-employment. Four classes will be offered evenings from 6:30PM to 8:30PM and one Saturday class from 10:30AM to 12:30PM. Classes will be held at Kingsborough Community College. Tentative dates are Thursdays: Sept 23, Oct 21, Nov 18, Dec 16. The Saturday class will be offered on October 23. To pre-register, please click here.
